This book is perfect for children or an older citizen as it is not a thick book but if you get on YouTube, you can watch all kinds of videos on this amazing beautiful elephant from the fire she endured in New Zealand to meeting her old friend, Jenny, when they were both circus elephants. Anyone who does not think elephants have feelings, needs to read this book and watch the video. My friend has sent the book to her 47 year old daughter who loves all animals.Product details

This was a gift and a surprise for my 30 year old son. We used to visit Shirley when he was little.
I know and love the story of Shirley and Jenny, and have told it to many. What I especially like about this book is that it introduces the girls simply and clearly. It leaves out all the abuse the two suffered but still let's children know that life wasn't easy before they entered The Elephant Sanctuary. It also allows for good conversations about animal rescue and how incredible all animals--especially elephants--are.
